Fifth Grade Students Create 3D Christmas Ornaments to Display in Local Post Offices

This 5th grade girls of Villa Maria Academy Lower School designed and created 3D Christmas Ornaments in S.T.E.M. class with Mrs. Bellopede. Over the course of three class periods, the girls worked with an online software program called Tinker CAD, which allows them to create 3D CADs, or computer aided designs. After some creative thinking and some tinkering, the girls all produced designs for their ornaments to hang on a tree that would be placed somewhere in the community. Their designs included: nutcrackers, reindeer, traditional Christmas balls and shining stars. The ornaments were then printed on the school’s MakerBot 3D plastic printer. Today, some of the 5th graders, Mrs. Bellopede, Mrs. Callan and Mrs. Wible, visited the Postmaster of Malvern’s Post Office on King Road to deliver a tree decorated with their ornaments to display for the holidays. Another tree with 3D ornaments was  also be delivered to the West Chester Post Office on Airport Road last week. Each tree will feature a QR code that can be scanned to reveal the process of how the ornaments were created. Great job girls!!!
