Team USA Field Hockey and VMAHS Alum Visits with GCAL Field Hockey Teams

Former Villa girl, Marie Elena Bolles (VMAHS ’10), visited Villa Maria Academy to practice with the JV and Varsity Field Hockey Teams. Marie helped JV with their corners and Varsity with their shooting and aerials. “She gave the girls a lot of tips to help them shoot for the corners, and a great technique for aerials,” said Varsity Coach, Joe Botta.

Marie Elena then met with JV and Varsity for a question and answer session. She answered questions about High School and her experience with the legendary Villa Coach Maurene Polley, her college experience at UCONN and winning a prestigious National Championship, what it takes to be a captain and a great teammate, and her experiences with the USA National Team. “The girls were thrilled to have her, and asked some great questions” said Coach Botta.

Marie Elena then signed autographs, took pictures, and gave all the girls good luck scrunchies. “She said they always brought her good luck,” said Coach Botta. “It was such a pleasure to host her. This was a great experience for the girls.”
