Villa girls to participate in Hour of Code again this year

Villa Maria Academy is excited to let you know that we will be participating in Hour of Code again this year.  The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science to help people to understand the basics of coding. The Hour of Code Campaign takes place the week of December 7-13. Instructional Technology Coaches’, Mrs. Melissa Dow and Mrs. Lisa Callan, goal is to have all our girls experience one hour of coding at some point that week.

This year they have released two new activities, Star Wars and Minecraft. “We think that the girls will really like them!” said Mrs. Dow. “Another great new development is that the activities now work on iPads,” so student can work comfortably in their classrooms.

Mrs. Lisa Callan will work with grades K-4 and their teachers and Mrs. Melissa Dow will work with grades 5-8 and their teachers.

The website for Hour of Code is https://hourofcode.com/us.  Feel free to take a look to get a glimpse of what the girls will be working on.
