As an individual dedicated to sharing Christian values, the VMA educator realizes the importance of being a positive role model to students. Instilling a love and understanding for the IHM Charism of love, creative hope, and fidelity, the VMA educator bears witness to the Gospel message. She/he values the importance of reciprocal education. While enriching students, the VMA educator is also enriched by the talents and experiences of the students.
The Villa Maria Educator is a dedicated professional who actively engages in his/her craft. She/he understands that education does not take place in isolation and works collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents and community members to address the varied needs of the 21st Century learner.
The VMA educator creates a welcoming and nurturing environment where students are reverenced. She/he is sensitive to the needs of each child and works to address those needs within a structured setting which provides the support needed for growth. While encouraging students to be creative and innovative, the VMA educator fosters the student’s capacity to embrace leadership opportunities to understand and demonstrate the power of her influence.
The VMA educator realizes that in her/his primary role of leading students to learning, the teacher is a student also. To achieve this end, she/he is engaged in ongoing professional development. As a reflective practice, the teacher seeks out opportunities for growth in best practices and personal development. This life-long learning philosophy serves as a catalyst for student engagement.
The educator at Villa Maria is a learner, a model, a partner, and a cheerleader. She/he understands the potential within each student and supports each student to become her best self.
