Art is taught at all levels at Villa Maria Academy. Students are introduced to art skills, artists and art history. Our goal is to cultivate enjoyment and appreciation of art, teach skills, build confidence, and encourage creativity. There are many opportunities outside of the classroom for students to create art including art contests, creating artwork for special events, and after-school art programs.
Visit our Art Gallery to see some of our students’ work.
Student’s art abilities are challenged through participation in both local and national art contests, including the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Art Contest, Wilmington Blue Rocks Holiday Card Contest, and the Daily Local News “Design an Ad” Contest.
Students often create artwork for the school’s special events throughout the year, including Family Mass and Picnic, Mission Day, Christmas Bazaar, Special Masses, and Grandparents Tea.
Specialized art classes are available as scheduled by the art teacher on a fee-per basis. Classes may include clay sculpting, sewing, knitting, holiday gift creations, and painting.
