Small But Mighty: Villa’s Track Team Rocks Regionals
Our VMA Track Team participated in the Region 17 Championship Meet this past Saturday, May 2. The girls have been doing an incredible job all season, and Villa is, by far, the smallest team competing in the region. Each week, we have numerous girls in the top eight places for many events. The Regional Meet had very similar results.
In the Novice Division The following girls will be continuing on to the AREA A Meet:
4x200M Relay Team (4th) – Abby H., Emily F., Tori B., and Lane G.
4x100M Relay Team (3rd) – Delaney D., Ava C., Jackie B., and Skylar K.
Long Jump – Delaney D (2nd), Olivia K. (4th), Jordi D (5th)
100M – Delaney D. (4th Place)
400M – Makenna W. (4th Place)
800M – Jackie B. (6th Place)
In the Minor Division The following girl will be continuing on to the AREA A Meet:
100M – Kathleen A. (1st Place)
In the Cadet Division The following girls will be continuing on to the AREA A Meet:
100M – Mary D. (5th Place)
1600M – Mary D. (3rd Place)
Shot Put – Olivia W. (6th Place)
Additionally, our 4×400 Relay team placed 6th overall and received medals, but only the top 4 relay teams advance. Those relay members are:
Makenna W., Hailey C., Cici B., & Jackie B.
During the course of the season, young ladies in each division managed to break Villa Maria Academy school records in thier events. The previous school records had been held for the past nine years. Congratulations to Delaney D. for setting a new school record in the Novice Long Jump, Makenna W. for breaking the school record in the 400 Meter Dash, Jackie B. for breaking the 800M record, Kathleen A. for easily surpassing the school record in the Minor 100 Meter Dash, and Olivia W. for shattering the school record in the Cadet Shotput.
We are so proud of Coach B. and our Villa team!!
