Seventh Graders Create Survival Bracelets for Deployed Troops
The Seventh Grade undertook another project in Religion class for Operation Gratitude. The girls recently made Paracord “Survival” Bracelets to be put in care packages for deployed troops and first responders.
Paracord, or parachute chord, can hold up to 550 pounds and can be used by troops in emergency situations. The bracelets can be unraveled in to provide 8 feet of super strong rope or string.
The outer sheath and inner strands of the bracelets can be used:
- as a tourniquet, a sling, or to tie a splint
- as sewing thread to stitch wounds or repair gear
- as tripwire, or to make nets and traps
- for many other potentially life-saving uses
Operation Gratitude sends over 100,000 care packages to U.S. Service Members, their children, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors and their Caregivers. They include Paracord “Survival” Bracelets in their care packages to Deployed Troops and First Responders.
“We sent 100 of these as our Christmas gift,” said Seventh Grade ELA and Religion Teacher, Mrs. Nancy Buck.
