Playing with Words – Can you guess?
This week, the second graders in Sister Ruth and Mrs. Grieves’ classes have been working on making riddles. They each took pictures of themselves doing their favorite fall activities, and worked on putting them together in a fun way so they had to guess what other students’ favorite activities were. “Writing a riddle is the reverse of solving a puzzle – you have to start with the answer,” they were told. The girls worked on playing with verbs, setting and sentences to make each riddle fun. “Riddles often give wonderful sensory details and describe something a child knows about. Plus, they encourage critical thinking and engagement in poetry,” said Sister. Great job girls!
