Students Celebrate Mission Day and Give Back
Villa Maria Academy’s mission of empowering young women through leadership and service is supported by a number of events and activities which demonstrate that each each girl can make a difference by using the power of her influence.
On November 3, Villa Maria Academy held its annual Mission Day event. An honored tradition at Villa, Mission Day is planned by our 8th grade class in support of a local charity. This year, Mission Day raised funds in support of the IHM Literacy Center in southwest Philadelphia. The center serves a multi-cultural population of adults who are learning to read and write. School supplies for the center were also collected as each child’s entrance fee into Mission Day.
Eighth grade students dressed in costume based on the theme of the event, hosted games, offered face painting, stories, karaoke, raffles and prizes for the younger students.
Thank you to the eighth grade students and their teachers for planning such a fun morning for our school. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who assisted with the event and to the many families who contributed with donations. We truly appreciate your support. Mission Day is just one of many ways Villa Maria Academy is committed to empowering young women to give back to their communities
