Sixth Grader Wins Poetry Contest
Earlier this spring, Fifth Grade ELA Teacher, Mrs. Maureen Wible, was notified that students in the then Fifth Grade (current Sixth Grade) students were going to have their poems published in Creative Communication’s anthology A Celebration of Poets. At that time, winning poems had not been selected and prizes had not yet been awarded. Over the summer, judges completed the selection process, and Mrs. Wible was notified of the Top Ten Winners. A now Sixth Grader, Makenna W.’s poem was selected out of several thousand entries as one of the ten best poems in the contest for the United States and Canada. Makenna received a prize and a complimentary copy of the anthology. “I am so proud of her,” said Mrs. Wible.
As a teacher of a Top Ten Winner, Mrs. Wible will be featured on Creative Communication’s blog and Facebook page to share her successes in the classroom with other teachers.
Congratulations! We are so proud of you!
