Breakfast of Champions Held Before Field Day
To begin our Field Day festivities, students, faculty and staff shared a symbolic “poor man’s” meal together during a Breakfast of Champions. Each student was asked to bring in non-perishable breakfast food items to be donated to the Good Samaritan Food Closet in Paoli. Mrs. Bellopede, a former staff member at Good Sam, spoke to the girls about the importance of the Food Closet and that when we care for others, we are all winners.
Prior to the breakfast, students had the chance to reflect on the idea that true champions are those who love others as themselves. Each class read the Parable of the Good Samaritan, Luke 10: 25-37, and students were asked to write statements of love, affirmation, and/or prayerful support on die cut angels to be given with their food donation to the Food Closet. Students brought their angels as well as their donation items to the gym for the Breakfast of Champions before going out to enjoy the day with each other during the Field Day games.
