Grade 1: Science Experimenting

The 1st grade girls at Villa Maria are working on a Physical Science Unit and observing solids, liquids and gases. They learned all about matter and how scientists observe, compare, and contrast different materials. On February 13th, they went down to the Lab with Mrs. Canning and did experiments using balloons and blocks along with a few other experiments. With the help of Mrs. Canning and Mrs. Long, the girls filled the balloons with gas and measured the circumference of each balloon. They then took the balloons outside to measure how the cold air effected the balloon and took it’s circumference again. With the blocks, they experimented to see how sound traveled through solids.
