Technology News: Smart Maestro
It is not just the students at Villa, but the teachers as well who are learning about new technologies. The classroom teachers recently took one of their lunch periods to get introduced to the features of a new app that can improve classroom instruction and student learning. This new SMART app connects the iPad to the existing Interactive White Board through a QR code and a special widget called Smart Maestro bringing the mobility of the iPad to the interactivity of the SMART board. Once connected, teachers can control the SMART Notebook lesson from anywhere in the classroom, while maintaining student ability to access to the interactivity of the SMART Board. Teachers also recently participated in a Villa virtual faculty meeting via Wikispaces where they watched videos, read professional development articles and contributed to relevant discussions with their Villa colleagues. This professional growth pays dividends as the girls reap the benefits of their teachers’ new knowledge and reflection.
