Fifth Grade Students Win Upper Merion Library Writing Contest
In December 2020, several fifth graders from Villa Maria Academy Lower School participated in the Upper Merion Township Library’s Write and Illustrate Your Own Book Contest, in which any student in kindergarten through eighth grade could create a picture or chapter book to enter.
Each year, the judges pick four winners per grade for first, second, third place, and honorable mention. Out of all the fifth grade entries (from many different schools), Villa girls placed in all four of the fifth grade spots! Each student will have her book professionally printed and bound and it will become a “published” book to be checked out of the library! First place winner, Talia M. will receive a copy of her book. We are Villa proud of all our students that participated and used their wonderful writing skills and imaginations to create original stories. Congratulations to our fifth grade winners:
1st place – Talia M.
2nd place – Kaitlyn A.
3rd place – Sara M.
Honorable Mention – Alexis M.
All authors are invited to the 2021 Awards Presentation at 1:00pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021. The celebration will be held either virtually or in-person if safety permits. More information on specifics will follow closer to the date.
