East Whiteland Fire Department Officers Visit Kindergarten for Fire Prevention Week
On October 14, two Fire Rescue Officers from East Whiteland Fire Department visited the Kindergarten at Villa for Fire Prevention Week to educate the girls on fire safety. The firefighters spoke with the girls about the importance of having working smoke detectors in each of their homes to help save their lives and explained the importance of their uniforms in helping to keep them safe while they fight fires. “We want kids to understand when they see us in uniform, to not be scared. We are there to help and keep them safe,” said Captain Loren.
The officers then took the girls and Kindergarten Teacher, Miss Beck, outside for a visit to the fire truck and an ambulance. “We don’t want their first experiences in their vehicles being scary ones,” said Officer Lavin. “We want them to be able to see it and be able to ask questions to make them feel more comfortable.”
Thank you to these very courageous officers of East Whiteland Fire Department for taking the time to educate students at Villa Maria Academy and for all the brave first responders who protect us every day.
