A Victory for the Villa Quiz Team

The Villa Quiz Team had another amazing tournament at Wilmington Charter, and did even better than last year! This year, the team came home with both the 1st and 2nd place trophies in the novice division!

“With a mere 5 point difference in the outcome of the final match, the trophies were almost interchangeable!” said Coach Maria De Jong.

The girls were in matches from 9:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon – a mental marathon!

Coach Theresa and I were doubly proud that both teams conducted themselves beautifully, with respect for their opponents and teammates, despite the ups and downs.  Although many participants and organizers of the tournament had not heard of Villa Maria before, it is definitely a name that they will remember!”

Eighth grader, Karenna R. and sixth grader, Jordi D. also came away with individual medals for 1st and 2nd place in the novice division, respectively.
