Celebrating Catholic School’s Week
Despite the weather and many restrictions on group activities this year due to the pandemic, Villa Maria Academy Lower School students and teachers celebrated Catholic Schools Week with fun and lots of Villa spirit!
On Thursday morning, our 8th grade Student Leadership Team represented everyone at Villa at the Transportation Center expressing love and gratitude to our Villa parents as they dropped off their children, complete with signs made by the students and some fun music for dancing.
The Student Leadership Team was determined to create an all-school activity for the girls this year to celebrate Catholic Schools Week together, since they could not do their usual faculty-student volleyball game. Instead they put together a fun 50 question Kahoot! game that included questions about Villa, our Faculty, and Disney Princesses. Students stayed in their classroom cohorts and each played using their iPads. It was such a fun, community building activity for our school!
And just like every Catholic School’s Week, we celebrated the birthday of our beloved mascot, Taffy, the giraffe! Taffy popped in on Zoom after the Kahoot! game to surprise the students and they wished her a happy birthday and had a virtual dance party to her favorite song, ‘Happy.’
Students also enjoyed a pretzel treat at lunchtime and the teachers enjoyed a nice lunch delivered from Dixie Picnic, all compliments of our wonderful Parent Guild Team.
Thank you to all involved for a fun week to celebrate our wonderful Catholic school!
