Grades 5-8 Perform at Dance Showcase

The 2015 5-8 Dance Showcase was held on March 18, 2015 in the gymnasium at Villa Maria Academy. This is a time-honored tradition at Villa. All grades offering dance classes during the academic day are eligible for Showcase. The Showcase is split in two performance days since the entire school participates.

Each class practiced their routine over the course of several weeks with Miss Holly Russell, Villa’s Dance Instructor. Miss Holly choose the theme for the overall performances and songs to accompany the theme for each class. This year, the theme for grades 5-8 was “Lights, Camera, Dance.” The girls also performed a variety of different dance styles during the showcase such as ballet, jazz, and lyrical. Girls who participate in the After-School Dance classes performed a Musical Theater number. Villa’s Baton Team also was featured among the performances at the Showcase last week. The After-School Dancers and Baton Team perform at both Showcases.

As a Villa tradition, at the end of the Showcase, the 8th grade did their special 8th Grade Last Dance together.

The 2015 K-4 Dance Showcase will be held on April 15, 2015 in the gymnasium at Villa Maria Academy.
