Kindergarten

The development of confident, articulate, thoughtful, and compassionate young women begins in Kindergarten at Villa Maria Academy.

When a girl comes to Villa, she enters a kind and collaborative community in an all-girl environment. Girls are encouraged, and expected, to try new things, participate, work with classmates, and to become leaders in their own classrooms.

The basic foundation for skills such as reading and writing, as well as the concepts involved in language, math, science, world language and culture are taught in the full-day Kindergarten program.

Many of the most important life lessons are also developed in the early years. Children learn about choosing right from wrong, how to set and reach goals, how to appreciate diversity, make good decisions and the importance of community. They also begin to develop social skills, and a solid moral character as they continue to develop their faith life.

These academic and developmental skills and values are at the core of a Kindergarten education at Villa Maria Academy Lower School.

K-2 Leadership Program – The Leader in Me

The K-2 Leadership program is based on Sean Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Happy Kids and is rooted in the IHM Charism of Love, Creative Hope, and Fidelity as well as virtues that make us such great children of God. Sean Covey believes that the 7 Habits are leadership qualities all students can learn and that developing these leadership skills will prepare students for the future.

The program was designed by Villa teachers to encourage girls to think of leadership not as a position and to help them understand that they are a part of something bigger than themselves.

Sending our daughter to Villa gives us everything we value all wrapped up in a package with a beautiful bow. Our Catholic beliefs, the values of the school, all girls, the learning environment provided by teachers and students, and the kind and loving support you receive from the teachers and the Villa families. It was the best decision for us because our daughter continues to flourish at Villa. It truly is a special place.” – The Famiglio family
