Terra Nova Assessments
Terra Nova Assessments are the standardized tests used throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. These tests help educators understand and evaluate student mastery of state standards. The assessments provide a benchmark of student performances and enhance classroom instruction.
According to the March 2019 Terra Nova Spring National Percentiles, students at Villa Maria Academy Lower School have scored higher on the Terra Nova Standardized Tests than most schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In addition, they have matched or scored higher than the other Catholic Schools in located in Chester County. Terra Nova tests are only required for Grades 2, 3 (if the school is an official Honors Math School), 4 and 7. However, it is our policy at Villa Maria Academy Lower School to test every grade level from Kindergarten through Grade 8 each year to measure growth. Individual student results are given to parents in Grades 1-8 before the end of the school year.
