Students Celebrate Computer Science Week

Computer Science Week was December 6-10! Although at Villa we do Computer Science and programming all year long, we do stop and celebrate Hour of Code in a special way. This was Villa’s 8th year participating!

On December 6, girls in 1st grade coded Finch (the robot) to draw a Christmas scene and perform a light show. Girls in 3rd grade created Christmas codes on their iPads through the ScratchJr. program. And girls in 4th grade worked on decoding the notes in common Christmas Carols and using the Scratch application to create a code for Finch (the robot) to “sing” their assigned song. 5th grade students coded Christmas songs on the Finch robots for Hour of Code, and middle school student were also able to choose a Christmas carol and code the music to play on the Finch robots!
