Where You Begin Matters

Where your child begins her education matters. Many parents look for options to begin their child’s education even earlier than kindergarten. When exploring programs, some parents may be torn by the option of choosing a daycare or a school program. At Villa Maria Academy, we believe there is a difference between a preschool and pre-kindergarten program and a daycare.

Community
While a daycare schedule is flexible for parents work-day schedules, the make-up of the class may change from day-to-day or even from morning to afternoon. An early childhood program like Villa Maria provides consistency and allows children the opportunity to build relationships with their classmates and teachers. Relationship building at Villa doesn’t stop with just the students. Parents can connect with the community in deeper ways through volunteering and participating in school-wide events. At Villa, there is a parent-led Parent Guild Association whose sole purpose is to promote parent-to-parent and parent-to-school relationships.

Support
The small class sizes at Villa allow children to have a consistent small group and more attention throughout the day. In addition to supporting academic growth, the close-knit environment will give your child the chance to be fully known by their teachers and their peers.

Added Value Classes
Another benefit of a formal early childhood program like Villa is the opportunity for students to regularly participate in a wide range of “specials,” or Added Value Classes in addition to their regular classroom schedule. At Villa, students in preschool and pre-kindergarten participate in Spanish, gym, library, music, and art (PreK only). These classes are led by teachers from the Lower School who are experts in their respective field. They provide students with opportunities for hands-on learning and fun. Exposing children to a variety of curricular offerings helps Villa students to develop into well-rounded people and acquire interests that they may continue into elementary school, middle school, and beyond.

Villa Maria Academy’s Early Learning Center was created as a place to educate the whole child. Each age-appropriate activity provides a warm and nurturing learning environment that facilitates positive social, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual development. Our caring teachers create a safe environment for children to try out their newly learned skills.

A strong early foundation lays the groundwork for elementary school and onward. To learn more about the opportunities available at Villa Maria Academy and to see our early childhood classrooms in action, contact our Admissions Office to schedule a campus tour. Spaces are limited.
