Lego Robotics Begins at Villa
The 8th graders at Villa Maria Academy have begun to build their LEGO Robots yesterday with Mrs. Dow! Students will be learning to design, program and control fully-functional models and robots that carry out life-like automated tasks. Villa Maria Academy acquired the LEGO Robotics kits for students in grades K-8 this year to engage students in all grades with real-world engineering by challenging them to build LEGO-based robots to complete tasks.
This year, Mrs. Dow will be teaching the LEGO® Mindstorms Robotics program to grades 5-8, and Mrs. Callan will be teaching LEGO® Education WeDo to grades 1-4. The WeDo education program engages students in project-based activities to help build science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) knowledge while incorporating lessons in language arts. Students will utilize their skills to create moving models, all while enhancing their creative and problem-solving abilities.
Villa Maria Academy is so excited to be able to offer this innovation program that seeks to inspire an appreciation for science and technology among young students.
