Mission Day is a tradition at Villa where the eighth graders host a Halloween celebration to raise money in support of the St. Agnes Day Room. The St. Agnes Day Room serves the basic needs of the poor and immigrant families in the West Chester area. Canned goods are also collected as each child’s entrance fee into Mission Day. The eighth grade host games, offer face painting, stories, karaoke, and added a new event this year, a gift walk. The gift walk was previously a cake walk, filled with baked good prizes, but to be sensitive to the needs of the many children in the school and family homes who have allergies, the “walk” was revised to its new and exciting form. Mission Day is just one of many ways Villa Maria Academy is committed to preparing girls to become Christian women assuming leadership and services roles within the family, the local and global community as well as their parish and the universal Church.
